Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THE FORMAT?
A non-contact league consisting of 3 on 3 modified "shinny" style games with goalies.
WHAT ARE THE RULES AND REGULATIONS?
The BBL fully supports responsible fun for all, which is an opportunity to stress (again) that this is a no contact league. There is also no offside penalty, but most rules of hockey will apply to our "shinny" games (ie. no tripping, hooking, slashing, etc). You are not to raise your stick above your waist and no slap shots are permitted. Penalties will result in an immediate penalty shot. Most importantly, there will be absolutely no arguing, violence or fighting of any kind.
HOW MANY DIVISIONS?
There will be three divisions (upper, middle and lower) consisting of "co-ed" players on Monday and Tuesday nights.
HOW MANY TEAMS CAN SIGN UP?
There are sixteen (16) team spots available between the three divisions.
HOW MANY PLAYERS PER TEAM?
We suggest teams have between ten (10) to twelve (12) skaters and a full time goalie. There is a maximum of thirteen (13) players per team.
CAN I PLAY ON MULTIPLE TEAMS?
Yes, you are welcome to play on two teams as long as they are in different divisions and you qualify for both. You will have to pay the registration fee for both teams. Double the ice time, double the cost. Pretty simple.
CAN I BRING MY FRIEND, SON, COUSIN, MOM, ETC TO PLAY FOR MY TEAM?
No. Teams are not allowed to add any new players unless they first clear it with the BBL. Every single player must be registered with the league in order to be covered by the insurance policy. This is mandated by Wyndham Worldmark Resort, the BBL and their respective insurance providers. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
WHAT SKILL LEVEL IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE?
The co-ed divisions will consist of all levels of skill. Based on the previous season at the Pavilion, teams will be placed in one of three divisions. The upper division will be for teams with any A players (including goalies), the middle division will be for teams with a split of B and C players, and the lower division will be for teams with mostly C and D players. As always exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. We want you to play with whoever you want to play with. So, pick your friends and be as competitive as you want to be... this is for fun after all.
HOW MANY GAMES WILL MY TEAM PLAY?
The regular season is set to play as many as twelve (12) games; however, this is subject to change based on weather.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?
The season will begin the week of November 30th, 2026 and end the week of February 22nd, 2027... weather permitting.
CAN MY TEAM CHOOSE ITS NAME? MAKE A JERSEY?
Yes. Team captains are responsible for picking a team name and providing unique jerseys for each member of their team.
WILL THERE BE OFFICIATING?
No. This is, for lack of a better term, a "gentlemen's" or "gentleperson's" league. Volunteers will be in attendance to help keep score (and the peace), but all rules will be self enforced. If there are any problems of any kind, you may be asked to leave the game immediately without any warnings. Please be kind.
WHICH DAY OF THE WEEK ARE THE GAMES?
League games will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
WHAT TIME ARE THE GAMES?
Games will be 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm or 9:00pm.
HOW LONG ARE THE GAMES?
Each game consists of two (2) twenty (20) minute periods.
WILL THERE BE BEER?
Ah, yes. It is called the Bend Beer League. But that does not mean BYOB. Please refrain from bringing any alcohol to the games as it is strictly prohibited. The bar at Seventh Mountain will be open for food and drinks... and happy to serve you libations.
IS THE LEAGUE GOING TO BE SUPER FUN?
Yes. And we are glad that you asked. Because that is the point.
